Tuscarora Creek Watershed Based Plan

Watershed Based Plan 3-31-2011

Water Quality Workshops

On July 1, 2009, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection hosted workshops during which the DEP sought information from Eastern Panhandle residents to improve water quality in the Tuscarora Creek watershed.  Read the Martinsburg Journal article, July 2, 2009.

On June 17, 2010, DEP again hosted a watershed meeting during which Alana Hartman, Potomac Basin Coordinator and Kristen Milkarek, Canaan Valley Institue, presented a draft watershed based plan for the Tuscarora Creek watershed
which includes Dry Run.  Also discussed was a project proposal to request Clean Water Act Section 319 funds to fund part of the first few years of implementing the Watershed Based Plan.  Both of these documents primarily address two pollutants, fecal coliform and sedimentation, from nonpoint sources (that is, sources from the landscape that do not have an official permit to discharge).  The public outreach for this effort was initiated at meetings last July 1st.  Related Martinsburg Journal article, June 18, 2010
